Sondra
M. Miller named Chief Counsel at McCarthy Fingar LLP
Former
Justice Sondra M. Miller, who retired last year after more than 15 years at the Appellate
Division, Second Department, has been named Chief Counsel at McCarthy Fingar LLP, the
White Plains general practice firm. .Justice Miller also served on the Supreme
Court, Ninth Judicial District, and the Family Court of Westchester County. In
January 2004, Court of Appeals Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye appointed Justice Miller to
chair the Matrimonial Commission, which was established to examine every facet of the
divorce and custody determination process and recommend reforms to benefit litigants
and their children. The Commission’s Report was issued last month. In
addition to her private practice at McCarthy Fingar, Justice Miller has been appointed
Director of the new Family Services Unit established by the Office of Court Administration,
and serves as Chair of the New York State Family Violence Task Force. She also
serves as Distinguished Jurist in Residence at Pace Law School. Justice Miller
is a member of Harvard Law School’s Class of 1953, the first class to admit women. |
