Over the last year, The Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce has noticed considerable confusion among our membership about the state of the Empire Zone program here in Mount Vernon. Many are unsure of the current rules and requirements of the program; some don’t know whether they qualify; others don’t know how to properly apply; some certified Mt. Vernon companies are facing the potential threat of the loss of their Empire Zone benefits.
