It's the hottest race in New York State: State Assemblyman George Latimer (D) takes on businessman Bob Cohen (R) to see who will be elected to New York State's District #37 Senate Seat (occupied by retiring Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer).  This local election could tip the balance of power in the New York State Senate.  Come hear where the candidates stand on issues such as property taxes, economic development, government reform, and other issues important to you, the taxpayer...

    The Candidates:

Bob Cohen (R):  From the Candidate's Campaign: "A proven business leader and avid community volunteer, Bob has the insight, experience and integrity needed to fulfill his vision. Bob has a simple vision for restoring the prosperity and faith of New York State voters: Runaway taxes and state spending must be stopped before they do more damage to our economy and our future; State representatives must serve the public, rather than their own interests and those of their parties."

    Assemblyman George Latimer
(D):  From the Candidate's Campaign: "Elected in 2004 to the State Assembly, George Latimer has established a solid record of accomplishment, sponsoring legislation and advancing funding for environmental issues, housing, transportation, healthcare, lower property taxes and a myriad of other issues. 'Property taxes are too high, and I have worked hard to address that major worry many of us face; it always comes up as the #1 local issue homeowners are concerned about.'"

    The Moderator:

Steve Scott: Steve Scott is the current host of CBS New York's "Eye on Politics" and anchors afternoon drive with Wayne Cabot on WCBS 880 in New York City. Scott's career highlights include reporting on the aftermath of 9/11 from Ground Zero; interviewing Fidel Castro in Havana; covering the Kosovo war from an aircraft carrier in the Adriatic Sea and also from Albania, where he interviewed Kosovar refugees; reporting from Bosnia; reporting on the scene of the mid-air collision over the Hudson River; and being on the air when the Eliot Spitzer and “Miracle on the Hudson” stories broke.
