Embattled Board of Legislators Chairman Eyes Westchester County's Top Spot

...had been widely rumored to run for the county's top spot this year, but those plans came into question by some after December's budget fiasco in which two Democratic colleagues broke party ranks to pass a compromise budget, leaving Jenkins in the cold.
At a press conference earlier in the week, Jenkins told The Journal News: “Providing illusory tax cuts by borrowing and trading away our future – while cutting the vital programs that make life what it is in Westchester – may be a quick way to gain political traction, but it's no way to govern.” Jenkins said. “Unfortunately that's exactly the sort of thing that's been happening.”
Jenkins will face New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and Legislator Bill Ryan in a Democratic primary in June.
