• National Recognition of Westchester County's Emergence as a Healthcare Hub

  • Westchester County is Supporting the Changing Needs of the Healthcare Sector

  • The word is out to site selectors across the nation: Westchester County is a hot new hub that is supporting the changing needs of the healthcare sector! In its latest issue, Business XPansion Journal points to Westchester’s success in providing the right environment for medical and life science companies.

"Stepping up to fulfill those needs is New York's Westchester County, where companies such as Regeneroon, Histogenetics, Profectus BioSciences, and Burke Medical Research are benefiting from increasing attention to biotech and healthcare," reports Business XPansion Journal, a national magazine for site selectors, or specialists who help corporations make relocation decisions nationwide and around the world.

Westchester County Association President Marissa Brett tells Business Xpansion Journal that the WCA is focused on taking the lead in driving the sector’s growth. The WCA is sponsoring Health Tech conferences and launching new resources such as Innovate Westchester, a networking group for the scientific community.

"Right now health care, life science, biotech and digital health are a $15 billion sector in our region, providing jobs to almost 20 percent of our workforce," says Brett. "With New York City running out of lab space for early-stage and startup companies, medical innovators are clustering here thanks to our great location, transportation infrastructure, flexible and affordable space, willing landlords, trained workforce and livable communities."

Brett, who is the former executive director of the WCA's BLUEPRINT for Westchester, which has spurred the growth of the healthcare and biotech sectors in Westchester, also points to a $1 billion capital infusion into the healthcare industry from New York City institutions as a sign of the industries' growth.
