Message
from the President
I
want to take this opportunity to update you how the WCA was at work for our members in
2005. Last year, the Association made great strides in achieving its goal of remaining
a center of influence for business advocacy and enhancing the economic vitality of our
region. Our Committees, comprised of WCA Director and Members, have driven our impressive
initiatives and activities.

Dr.
Joseph N. Hankin, President of Westchester Community College, told business leaders recently
that Westchester is facing a potentially serious education gap caused by critical and
rapid changes in the population. Speaking before the The Westchester County Association
(WCA) Board of Directors at a meeting held at The Reader’s Digest Association’s
World Headquarters, Dr. Hankin—also a WCA Board member — reviewed the impact
of major demographic shifts in the county—notably the rapid increase in the foreign

E-CONNECTIONS
Testimonial
Kay
S Cioffi is a fairly new entrepreneur, having started her business development consulting
firm, Texzen Partners, Rye, less than a year ago. At that time, she didn’t know anyone
in the Westchester business community. That all changed shortly after she attended a CONNECTIONS
Lunch and Learn program. There, she found a venue to make the business contacts she needed.
In addition, she “liked the idea that the WCA was committed to meeting the needs
of professionals and entrepreneurs like myself by providing programs and services that
can help me grow my business.”
Cioffi
also came to appreciate other aspects of the WCA as a result of attending the Fall Leadership
Dinner Meeting. “That event made it very clear to me that the WCA membership comprises
the county’s top business leaders. The level of networking is very sophisticated
and professional.” Cioffi says she made some great contacts at the Fall Dinner
that led to new business. “I believe that the caliber of WCA events will make it
possible to for me make at least one contact who will either become a client of mine
or one who would welcome receiving a proposal.”
In
addition to leveraging WCA events, Cioffi has wasted no time in becoming a leader of
the organization. She joined the CONNECTIONS Advisory Board and will moderate a panel
at the next Lunch & Learn program on February 16 entitled “Leading High Performance
Sales Teams.”
