Sweeny, president of The College of New Rochelle (CNR), has announced the appointment of Dr. Dorothy Escribano as the College's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2007. As the chief academic officer of the College, Dr. Escribano will supervise the operations of the College's four schools, the library, and various academic support services. She will report directly to the president as a member of the Executive Team. She succeeds Dr. Joan Bailey, who has held the position since 1997. Read More... White Plains Hospital Center's cancer program has won the Outstanding Achievement Award for 2006 from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. The Hospital's Cancer Program was one of 31 nationwide and the only one in Westchester and the New York metro area to be recognized for the prestigious award, which was announced earlier this year. But when the power system fails to support the area's demand, the potential for chaos and loss of profit suddenly becomes very real. Our aging electric infrastructure has hit its limit in certain load areas and demand for electricity will outpace current availability over the next decade in many neighborhoods throughout the New York region. In the meantime, the threat of black outs and brown outs can be minimized by taking advantage of utility load reduction programs that provide cash incentives for customers to reduce energy consumption. A graduate of the Columbia University School of Law, Mr. Goodman is a member of several major law organizations including The World Trade Council, where he serves as a member of the Board of Governors. He, his wife Carol and their two children live in Rye Brook, New York.
