The Board of Trustees of Berkeley College has named Dario A. Cortes, PhD, as President effective July 7, 2008. Currently President and Executive Director of The American School Foundation in Mexico City, Dr. Cortes will assume responsibilities as President of Berkeley College following the close of the academic year.

Westchester / Rockland Revolving Loan Fund Program
The Westchester / Rockland Revolving Loan Fund Program was established to promote small business growth and economic development in Westchester and Rockland Counties. The essential feature of the program is to provide financial assistance to companies that neither qualify for conventional financing nor meet a bank's credit guidelines.

The program is administered by the Rockland Economic Development Corporation, and is funded via a grant provided by Empire State Development Corporation. A loan committee which includes representatives of lending institutions in Rockland and Westchester Counties, reviews and decides upon loan applications. Read More...

The Westchester chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), in conjunction with Mercy College, is offering the session, "College Selection and Paying the Bill," on Saturday, May 10th, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Mercy College's Dobby Ferry Campus (555 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry) in the lecture hall of the Main Hall building. MTA Metro-North Railroad Sets Record for Ridership in 2007 Carries More Than 80 Million Customers
MTA Metro-North Railroad ridership exceeded 80 million customers in 2007 for the first time in the railroad's 25-year history, based on preliminary analysis of December ticket sales.

Recruiting Hispanic Professionals Opinion: Hispanic Professionals have become a rare commodity!

At work or on the street, the racial spectrum of Americans is changing rapidly. If you follow the latest headlines, there seems to be a valid explanation. According to the US Census Bureau by 2050 one out of every four Americans will be of Hispanic decent. What is even more impressive; however, are the projected number of individuals. Currently at 44 million and growing, the Hispanic population is expected to more than double reaching 100 million in that same period of time. If the Hispanic population is booming, why then has it been so difficult for corporations to attract, hire, and retain Hispanic professionals?

The problem of attracting Hispanic hires is more deeply rooted than meets the eye. With over 78 million baby boomers set to retire in the next two decades, the US Census Bureau estimates that their exodus from the workforce will generate approximately 35 million job openings. A large portion of these job openings will eventually be filled by the growing crop of minority candidates, among them Hispanics.
