Westchester / Rockland Revolving Loan Fund Program The Westchester / Rockland Revolving Loan Fund Program was established to promote small business growth and economic development in Westchester and Rockland Counties. The essential feature of the program is to provide financial assistance to companies that neither qualify for conventional financing nor meet a bank's credit guidelines. The program is administered by the Rockland Economic Development Corporation, and is funded via a grant provided by Empire State Development Corporation. A loan committee which includes representatives of lending institutions in Rockland and Westchester Counties, reviews and decides upon loan applications. Read More... Expert's Corner Recruiting Hispanic Professionals Opinion: Hispanic Professionals have become a rare commodity! by Tom Kadala At work or on the street, the racial spectrum of Americans is changing rapidly. If you follow the latest headlines, there seems to be a valid explanation. According to the US Census Bureau by 2050 one out of every four Americans will be of Hispanic decent. What is even more impressive; however, are the projected number of individuals. Currently at 44 million and growing, the Hispanic population is expected to more than double reaching 100 million in that same period of time. If the Hispanic population is booming, why then has it been so difficult for corporations to attract, hire, and retain Hispanic professionals? The problem of attracting Hispanic hires is more deeply rooted than meets the eye. With over 78 million baby boomers set to retire in the next two decades, the US Census Bureau estimates that their exodus from the workforce will generate approximately 35 million job openings. A large portion of these job openings will eventually be filled by the growing crop of minority candidates, among them Hispanics. Read More... E-CONNECTIONS Testimonial Adam Stark, President Stark Business Solutions This has been quite ayear for Adam Stark, starting in the spring when he decided to take his business, Stark Business Solutions to the next level by getting more involved in WCA activities. He joined the CONNECTIONS Advisory Committee and liked what he saw. "As my company deals mostly with small businesses, I was very impressed with The WCA's innovative new programs and services targeed to entrepreneurs and young professionals like me," he said. In the fall, he approached The WCA staff with the idea of his compahy sponsoring a new CONNECTIONS Breakfast Seminars to provide small subiness owners with guidance on a variety of topics. The early morning one-hour sessions - presented by Mr. Stark and the WCA- debuted in January 2008. Mr. Stark was one of the five WCA members honored at the Annual Fall Preeption for winning the inaugural Awards for Professional Excellence (APEX). Appropriately, he won the APEX Award for Young Professional. A graduate of Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Mr. Stark resides in Pound Ridge with his wife Marisa and four children.
