Brave 12 year old makes a difference!
Jayne Gershfeld is 12 years old and a sixth grader at Fox Lane Middle School in Bedford, New York. She wants to raise money for epilepsy awareness and program funding. She was diagnosed with epilepsy in November 2005 after she fell in the shower. It was really scary for her and her family. What was even scarier was that in the months (and years) that followed, the doctors could not find the proper medication to prevent her from having seizures. Either she was allergic to the medications or they just didn't work. Even though it's been almost 3 years since she was diagnosed, she still has frequent seizures. Her friends and family accept that epilepsy is part of who she is. She hopes you will, too. She dances, she swims, and she laughs - a lot - epilepsy will not stop her! Read More...

Sticking to What Works: Investment Principles for Difficult Times!

In turbulent economic times, it can become increasingly difficult to remain focused on the key investment tenets that have served investors incredibly well over the course of financial history. Investors are typically rewarded by remaining invested when the market is down and focusing on:

· Developing and Maintaining a Customized Long- Term Asset Allocation: Every investor has unique goals and a differing tolerance for risk. Invest in asset classes and proportions commensurate with your financial profile.
· Constructing a Well-Diversified Portfolio: Invest in five primary asset classes (equities, fixed income, real estate, commodities, and cash), and further diversify by geography, investment style, and market capitalization.
· Rebalancing the Portfolio Regularly: Rebalancing requires investors to sell an appreciated asset class and buy a relatively underappreciated asset class in order to restore the original target portfolio allocation and reinforces the logical idea of "buying low, and selling high".

YVesWhy Every Company Needs A Strategy to Protect Its Most Valuable Assets - Its Intellectual Property

Increasingly a company's most valuable assets are the knowledge, ideas, innovations and brands that give it a competitive advantage. Many of these assets, which are known as "intellectual property" or "IP," can be protected using legal concepts such as patents, trademarks, trade dress, copyrights and trade secrets. It has been estimated that IP accounts for more than 70% of the value of most companies. Proper IP protection is essential to maintaining and increasing company value. It is extremely important, therefore, that every company develop and implement an IP strategy.
