Description

Multifamily Buildings Low-Carbon Pathways Program offers a step-by-step approach to retrofitting multifamily buildings to become low-carbon and attain incentives through the process. They offer flexible energy upgrade packages that will bring energy savings to major building systems.

Eligibility

Eligible Buildings and Customers include:

  • Existing affordable and market-rate multifamily buildings
  • New multifamily buildings in operation for at least one year prior to apply to this program
  • Multifamily buildings that have undergone substantial renovations in operation for at least one year prior to applying to this program
  • 5+ unit buildings where residential space makes up at least 50%of the building’s gross heated footage
  • New York State electricity customers, including those who pay into the System Benefits Charge (SBC) or NYSERDA Clean Energy Fund

How the Program Works

Each upgrade package contains guidance and states the required upgrades for each building system. Building owners can install as many packages as they’d prefer to achieve their building’s highest level of performance. Additional recommendations to improve the building include envelopes, appliance, heating & cooling, and domestic hot water.

Visit NYSERDA’s website for more information. Interested building owners should read the International Tailoring Co. Building case study for future-proofing a multifamily building with clean energy solutions to understand the positive real life implications of this program.
