General Statement of Privacy
The Westchester County Association (the “County Association”) is very concerned about your privacy and takes your privacy and its own obligations very seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat the information we collect when you visit our Web site (www.westchester.org) and use its features.
Subject to the provisions of applicable laws, any information you submit to the County Association will not be used in any manner to which you have not consented. While the County Association does analyze its Web site logs to monitor the flow of traffic and make improvements to the site’s content, its Web site logs do not identify you personally, and no attempt is made to link the logs to you or any other individual visitor to this site.
Personally Identifiable Information
We do not collect any “Personally Identifiable Information” (as defined below) about you on the County Association Website without your knowledge or consent. “Personally Identifiable Information” is data about you that could potentially identify you, such as your name, email address, street address, telephone number or social security number.
Your information is collected through the membership registration form, e-mail newsletter registration and/or event registration forms. This information includes, but is not limited to, your name (first and last), company name, company address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, and credit card information. If you disclose any information on an open forum that is hosted by the County Association, other parties not affiliated with the County Association may collect that information to send you unsolicited information or for other purposes.
Use of Personally Identifiable Information
If you do provide Personally Identifiable Information to us, either directly or indirectly, we will (a) not sell or rent it to a third party without your permission, although unless you opt out (see below), we may use your contact information to provide you with information we believe you need to know or may find useful, such as (for example) news about our services and products and modifications to our terms of service; (b) take commercially reasonable precautions to protect the information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction; (c) not use or disclose the information ex-cept: as necessary to provide services or products you have ordered, such as (for example) by providing it to a carrier to deliver products you have ordered; in other ways described in this privacy policy or to which you have otherwise consented; in the aggregate with other information in such a way so that your identity cannot reasonably be determined (for example, statistical compilations); as required by law, for example, in response to a subpoena or search warrant; to outside auditors who have agreed to keep the information confidential; as necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of the County Associa-tion, its users, or others; this may include (for example) exchanging information with other organizations for fraud protection and/or risk reduction.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
As a general matter, Non-Personally Identifiable Information helps us determine how the Website is being used, helps us identify popular areas of the Website, and helps determine the effectiveness of our promotional activities regarding the Web site.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information includes, but is not limited to, the information we automatically collect on your use of our Website, such as how you came to our Web site, what pages you view, click-through rates, and similar information. In addition, when a visitor arrives at our site, we collect information about their IP address (not their email address), operating system, and browser software.
The County Association recognizes that certain user information of a key demographic nature (e.g., race, age, gender, national origin, income), while Non-Personally Identifiable Information, is still of a sensitive nature to users. As a general matter, the County Association does not collect such information about you through the Web site. However, in recognition of the sensitive nature of such information, in the event the County Association comes into possession of such information, such information shall, when coupled with any of your Personally Identifiable Information, itself be deemed to be Personally Identifiable Information and treated by the County Association as such.
Use of “Cookies”
Our Website uses “cookies” (a “cookie” is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s web browser while a user is browsing a website) to help track your usage of our site. The Web site’s cookies do not include personal information about you, but they are unique to each user and include a randomly generated unique number that enables the Web site to identify you when you visit, so you do not have to remember your username and password each time you visit the Website and receive any personalized services you requested when you registered.
Neither our Website nor the cookies we write to the hard drives of our users, read any data off of your hard drive outside of our cookies. You can refuse to accept cookies by turning them off in your browser (for more information on how to do this, please refer to your browser’s documentation). You do not need to have cookies turned on in your browser to use our Website; however, without cookies certain of the automated functions and features of our Website will not be available to you. We also use cookies to measure the click-through rate on e-mails delivered.

The County Association provides links allowing you to access third party Web sites. The County Association is not responsible for the content that appears on those sites and does not endorse these sites. You should consult those sites’ individual privacy policies in order to determine how they treat user information.

We may store your data on servers provided by third party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted.
Security
“Perfect” security does not exist anywhere, including on the Internet. When you send credit card information, we encrypt this information between your computer and our server. Other information you send to this site, including email messages, will not be encrypted unless we advise you otherwise. Our Website is protected by a firewall and monitored for security.
Newsletters and E-Mailing Lists
The County Association distributes several online newsletters and emails each week. Visitors to our Web site can subscribe to our newsletters and communications. When you opt-in to receive communications from the County Association, we will collect your personal information (including but not limited to your name and email address) for the purpose of delivering these communications to you. Participation in these communications is voluntary, and you may choose to unsubscribe at any time.
Surveys, Polls, and Contests
On occasion, we may provide the opportunity to participate in surveys, polls or contests on our Web site. If you participate, we may request certain personally identifiable information from you. Participation in these surveys or polls is voluntary and therefore you have a choice whether or not to disclose your personal information.
Merchant Services
You may be able to access certain information related to third parties including our members at the Site, or via links, banner ads or click-throughs from the Site, regarding the goods or services of third parties. Your access to or use of those services is a matter entirely between you and the associated third parties, and the County Association shall have no liability whatsoever for any such access or use.
No Information Collected from children Minors
You must be at least 18 years old to use the County Association’s Web site. The County Association does not knowingly collect information from minors children under 18.
Correcting, Updating or Deleting Information
The Web site gives users the option to correct, update or delete any information previously provided to us by the user; however, we will maintain copies of user information to the extent retained as part of our Web site’s standard backup/archive process. In addition, these procedures will not remove such of your information that has been provided by you to, or collected from you by, the Web sites of our business partners. We are not responsible for ensuring the removal or deletion from the Web sites of our business partners of your information provided by us to our business partners as permitted by you or otherwise in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Security
All personal information described above is stored on restricted database servers. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is available at all times to all users of the Web site at www.westchester.org. Any material changes to this privacy policy will be communicated to users through this Web page. Users are responsible for making use of this resource to stay up to date on the County Association’s privacy policy. We encourage users to visit this page periodically to review our current policy.
