Description
As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) $50 million Renew America’s Nonprofits Program, the Renew America’s Nonprofits Grant is offering money to support nonprofits to plan and implement energy efficiency projects. The DOE is selecting nonprofits as grant recipients who will collaborate with 38 partner organizations to implement energy efficiency in the recipient’s nonprofit organization. This program provides the opportunity for nonprofits to save operational dollars so nonprofits can focus on their mission.
Eligibility
Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations exempt under section 501(a), as described in the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
How the Program Works
The program is split into three types of participants, who all work together within the Program:
- Prime Recipient: 501(c)(3) organizations want to create a portfolio of subrecipients and provide technical assistance to them. Prime Recipients can work with Partners to expand their capabilities.
- Subrecipient: 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that own and operate their building. Prime recipients subaward grants up to $200,000 for energy efficiency upgrades.
- Partner: An organization that wants to and is capable of partnering with prospective Prime Recipients to enhance their services.
Not for profits can join the Teaming Partner List to build partnerships with various stakeholders, allowing others to reach out to your organization for the funding opportunity.
