Derek Anderson is Senior Vice President and President of Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH), part of Northwell Health, where he directs daily operations and strategic growth. Since taking the role in 2020, he has led NWH to significant achievements, elevating its CMS rating from 2 to 5 stars, earning a Leapfrog “A” safety grade, and introducing full-service cardiac interventional and electrophysiology programs alongside major capital improvements.

With more than 16 years at Northwell, Derek previously served as associate executive director of North Shore University Hospital, overseeing daily operations of the 850-bed quaternary campus and guiding $740 million in capital projects, including a $625 million surgical pavilion completed in 2024. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on multiple regional healthcare boards.

Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Utah, a Master of Public Health from Columbia University, and a Project Management certificate from Harvard School of Public Health.

As president of the Healthcare Association of New York State, Bea Grause is a passionate advocate for New York’s nonprofit and public hospitals, health systems and post-acute and continuing care providers. She also oversees HANYS’ nationally engaged for-profit business services. Since her tenure began in 2016, she has contributed her extensive clinical, political and legal know-how to the organization’s agenda and in discussions with state and federal healthcare stakeholders.

Throughout the tremendous challenges of the pandemic, Grause’s leadership ensured that New York’s hospitals and health systems had the resources, flexibility and government support needed to preserve care in communities across the state. Grause continues to advocate on behalf of New York’s hospitals and health systems as they face fiscal, workforce and payer challenges post-pandemic.

Prior to HANYS, Grause served as president and CEO of the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems for 14 years, successfully leading Vermont hospitals through a variety of reform initiatives, including the state’s single-payer debate, and building the hospitals’ brand as trusted, competent leaders.

Grause spent 10 years in Washington, D.C., in a variety of positions. She began her D.C. tenure as a legislative assistant, first in the office of Rep. Norman Y. Mineta and then for Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II. After she left Capitol Hill, Grause simultaneously held senior governmental affairs positions with the Tennessee Hospital Association and Massachusetts Hospital Association. She spent three years working as counsel with the law firm of Foley, Hoag. In this role, she developed tailored legislative and regulatory strategies for many healthcare clients. Grause previously worked as a registered nurse, primarily in the emergency room and intensive care areas at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center of California.

She completed a three-year term (2012 to 2015) as an at-large member of the American Hospital Association board of trustees, including a 2015 term on the AHA Executive and AHA CEO Search Committees. As part of her AHA board responsibilities, she also served as chair of the AHA Allied Advisory Committee on Medicaid.

Grause earned her Juris Doctorate in 1991. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Boston College in 1979 and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is also a 2003 graduate of the Vermont Leadership Institute.

Alan Kadish, M.D. is President of Touro University, the largest Jewish-sponsored educational institution in the United States.

Before succeeding Dr. Bernard Lander as Touro’s second president in March 2010, Dr. Kadish distinguished himself as a prominent cardiologist, dedicated teacher and researcher, and experienced administrator.

From the Classroom to the Boardroom

A graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University, Dr. Kadish received postdoctoral training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a fellow in cardiology. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac electrophysiology.

Prior to joining Touro in 2009 as Senior Provost and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Kadish taught at the University of Michigan and held a 19-year tenure at Northwestern University. He served Northwestern as the Chester and Deborah Cooley Professor of Medicine, Senior Associate Chief of the Cardiology division, Director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Trials unit, and sat on the finance and investment committees of the Northwestern clinical practice plan.

An accomplished and prolific research scientist as well, he has published nearly 300 peer-reviewed papers, received numerous grants, including from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, and contributed to several textbooks.

Dr. Kadish is a past chair of the Clinical Cardiology Program Committee of the American Heart Association, and has been elected to prestigious scientific research and education societies including the American Association of Professors, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and the American Society of Physicians.

As a deeply committed observant Jew and a forward thinker, Dr. Kadish was a natural fit with Touro’s mission to serve the educational needs of our varied constituencies throughout the country and around the world. He helped Touro expand its unique offerings for Jewish and underserved communities, expanding high school programs in Connecticut and Philadelphia and recently publishing his book The Jewish Intellectual Tradition, while also leading Touro’s ascent to become a top-tier institution for the study of health sciences and medicine. Now formerly recognized by New York State as a University, Touro’s distinct medical programs—two colleges of pharmacy, six colleges of medicine, two colleges of dental medicine, a college of podiatric medicine, graduate schools and programs in health sciences—serve increasingly large and dynamic student populations. As one of the largest healthcare educational institutions in the U.S.—and an institution that is still growing—Dr. Kadish has positioned Touro University to lead a new era in medicine.

Dr. Kadish, who was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens, and educated in yeshivas in New York, is married with four children.

Mark Sanchez serves as President and CEO of United Hebrew and brings extensive experience leading skilled nursing, assisted living, long-term care, and senior living communities. Known for his integrity, empathy, and relationship-driven leadership style, he builds trust at all organizational levels while advancing collaboration, advocacy, and excellence in resident-centered care.

Mark serves as President of the Filipino Association of Rockland and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Westchester County Association and Leadership Rockland County. He is also New York Chapter President of the American College of Healthcare Administrators and an active member of LeadingAge New York, where he contributes to the Skilled Nursing Facility Survey Task Force and the Skilled Nursing Home Advocacy Committee.
